Drain 1 1/2" KZ-E15N – how to choose the right one
KZ-E15N is a stainless steel drain with a 1 1/2 inch connection and an aluminium nut. It appears in the catalogue as a steel item, which sets it apart from the cheaper plastic stock numbers with an identical connection.
Aluminium in the nut is light and does not rust, but as a soft metal it stands up less well to being forced tight with a spanner than brass does. Fitting turns out better when the nut is pulled up by hand and only corrected with a tool at the end.
The two-inch version of the same solution is carried by the manufacturer under the designation KZ-E20. If the workstation being refurbished has a wider outlet, this is the stock number, not the variant on this card.

Will an aluminium nut withstand cleaning with aggressive chemicals?
Aluminium does not corrode in water, but it reacts with strongly alkaline preparations, for example those for convection ovens. It is worth rinsing the component with water rather than leaving it covered in foam for several hours.
