AiCool monoblocks

AiCool refrigeration and freezing monoblocks

A complete refrigeration system in a single housing: compressor, evaporator, condenser and control electronics. The unit arrives charged with R290, wired and pre-programmed – you fit it into the cold room panel or into the furniture structure and connect the power supply. No refrigerant pipework built on site.

R290

A natural refrigerant across the whole range. No emission charges and, for defined configurations, no operator registration duty.

EC + inverter

Energy-efficient EC motors and inverter compressors, with condensate evaporated by condensing heat through an AISI 316 coil instead of a resistive heater.

Plug & Play

Installation without F-gas certification and without a specialist refrigeration engineer. The unit is ready to run once power is connected.

PL

Design, engineering and production in Poland – our own R&D department, machine park and climatic chamber for testing.

Benefits

What a monoblock changes in the business case

The AiCool catalogue sorts the benefits into two groups: financial and service. Below are the four that come up most often in conversations with design engineers.

No F-gas registration or fees

Every model runs on natural R290. The units do not have to be registered with national F-gas authorities, carry no environmental fees, and installation does not require F-gas certification.

Less energy every hour of operation

Energy-efficient EC motors and inverter compressors that modulate capacity steplessly instead of cycling on and off. Condensate is evaporated by condensing heat through an AISI 316 steel coil rather than a heater, and polyurethane insulation of the evaporator housing raises the unit's efficiency.

Remote diagnostics as standard

Controllers come ready for remote monitoring at no extra cost, and an optional IoT gateway opens full integration with an external system. A fault is visible before the technician sets off, which shortens response time and lowers the cost of service.

Parts and service without downtime

Round-the-clock availability of the units, spare parts straight from our own warehouse with the option of delivery to the installation site. Manufacturing in Europe shortens transport and waiting time.

Applications

Five groups of applications

The same monoblock principle goes into very different equipment – from a storage cold room to a refrigerated parcel locker. What changes is the mounting method, the temperature range and the capacity, not the way the system works.

Cold rooms and freezer rooms

Complete refrigeration and freezing systems in a stainless steel housing, in two mounting versions: wall-mounted (MBP-KOB, suspended on the PU panel) and ceiling-mounted (MBP-KOS). The wall version suits installations where front service access matters, the ceiling version frees up the chamber wall for shelving.

  • Chamber volume 3–65 m³, larger volumes on request.
  • Cooling capacity 0.5–3.9 kW, higher outputs on request.
  • Ambient temperature +10…+43°C, on request −20…+43°C, and a version up to +50°C for demanding conditions.
  • Mounting on PU panels of 60/80/100 mm, other panel thicknesses to order.
  • Automatic hot gas defrost and condensate evaporation by gas coil.
  • Food warehouses and wholesalers, catering back-of-house, fruit and vegetable rooms, flower cold rooms, wine rooms.

Refrigerated counters and cabinets

A ready refrigeration system for the furniture manufacturer to build in. Refrigerated counters in centrally mounted and side-mounted versions, plus refrigerated and freezer cabinets in which the evaporator sits inside the unit and takes no space away from the chamber.

  • Central mounting gives more refrigerated space and even air circulation thanks to top-down airflow.
  • Side-mounted version for designs where the middle of the worktop has to stay free.
  • Stainless steel construction, resistant to corrosion and to back-of-house washdown.
  • Supplied with a 3 m connection cable, an electronic temperature controller and a switch.
  • Refrigerated and freezer cabinets – evaporator built into the unit, quiet operation.
  • Off-cycle defrost, hot gas defrost in the freezer versions.

Pastry display cases and counters

Monoblocks for pastry display cases and refrigerated counters with bottom mounting, designed to fit the technical well of the furniture. They work in the sales area, so noise level and reliable defrost matter here more than anywhere else.

  • Operating temperature range +2…+8°C.
  • Quiet operation – the unit stands in the sales area, not in the back office.
  • Reliable defrost, which limits maintenance and display downtime.
  • ABS housing with high-density polyurethane foam insulation.
  • Energy-efficient electrical components, EC motors.
  • Other capacities and technical well dimensions to order.

Vending machines and parcel lockers

Refrigeration systems designed to be integrated into the equipment structure: vending machines as well as refrigerated collection lockers and parcel stations serving e-commerce logistics. Top or bottom mounting, depending on how the airflow runs inside the device.

  • Vending machines – operating temperature range +5…+8°C.
  • Simpler integration of the refrigeration circuit with the device structure.
  • Fewer installation works at commissioning and lower risk of assembly errors.
  • Greater repeatability in series production.
  • Easier service access and quick replacement of the refrigeration unit.
  • Fresh, Frozen, Pharma and Click & Collect lockers, with support for temperature monitoring.

Technology

Technical features

Industrial construction designed for continuous duty and easy service. Below are the solutions the latest AiCool catalogue uses to describe these units.

Download the catalogue

Stainless steel housing, galvanised structure

Enhanced corrosion resistance, which matters above all for equipment working outdoors. Structural components in galvanised steel, and every unit goes through a quality check before dispatch.

Expansion valves and superheat control

The valve automatically adjusts refrigerant flow to the current thermal load. Holding the correct superheat stabilises the system and raises energy efficiency under variable load.

Hybrid condensing system

One unit with two routes for rejecting heat: an air-cooled condenser and a water-cooled plate condenser. You switch between modes with the season and with whether the building has a use for the waste heat – without touching the refrigeration circuit.

Hot-gas defrost and condensate evaporation

HOT-GAS defrost shortens the cycle and limits temperature swings inside the cold room. Condensate is evaporated by condensing heat through an AISI 316 coil, so there is no drain to run and no heater to power.

Dual-range monoblocks

One unit serves both a chilled room (−5/+5°C) and a freezer room (−25/−15°C), and the mode is switched with a single button. The inverter compressor runs on 230 V at both 50 and 60 Hz, so the same model goes to markets with either frequency.

Electrics, monitoring and service access

Hermetically sealed enclosures for the electrical components and considered placement of the control elements. The condenser sits at the bottom and benefits from natural airflow, while a quick-release guard gives access for cleaning without removing the casing.

WATERLOOP

Heat recovery

WATERLOOP – waste heat stays inside the building

A solution for retail chains and facilities running many refrigeration units. Instead of releasing condensing heat to the surroundings, the monoblocks transfer it to a water loop and from there to a domestic hot water tank or to the heating system.

A separate solution is the side air discharge system with a regulating damper: it directs the warm air stream out of the installation zone or into adjacent rooms, depending on the season and the current needs of the building.

Download the catalogue
Summer mode
When the building needs no additional heating, excess heat is discharged out of the operating zone of the unit. This protects the system against a rise in ambient temperature and keeps cooling capacity where it should be.
Winter mode
Recovered warm air goes to adjacent zones that need heating – warehouses, staff facilities, working areas. That is energy which a conventional system would simply throw outside.
Full control all year round
An integrated set of dampers directs the airflow according to the current temperature and the needs of the facility. Changing mode requires no intervention in the refrigeration circuit.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about monoblocks

Ask a question
What are refrigeration monoblocks and what does Plug & Play mean?

A monoblock is a complete, self-contained refrigeration system enclosed in one housing: compressor, evaporator, condenser, fans and control electronics. Plug & Play means the unit reaches you wired, pre-programmed and factory-charged with refrigerant. Installation comes down to fitting the unit into a prepared opening – in a cold room panel, in a piece of furniture, in the structure of a vending machine – and connecting the power supply. You do not build refrigerant pipework on site, you do not braze pipes and you do not evacuate the circuit.

What tests do the monoblocks undergo before shipment?

Every unit passes quality control before delivery. After the copper pipes are brazed, the refrigeration circuit is checked for leak tightness, and electrical tests follow. Separately, we run long-term tests in a climatic chamber under variable and extreme temperature conditions – there we verify capacity, parameter stability and the behaviour of the circuit under summer overload. The same chamber is used to validate prototypes before series production starts.

What components is a monoblock built from?

Hermetic compressors from European manufacturers, including inverter versions for stepless capacity control. Heat exchangers with epoxy and hydrophilic coatings that limit electrochemical corrosion and support defrosting. Energy-efficient EC motors and fans, also in ATEX versions. Control electronics prepared for remote monitoring. A stainless or galvanised steel housing, with an AISI 316 coil as an option.

Do the monoblocks integrate with BMS and how does the IoT gateway work?

Monoblock controllers are prepared for remote monitoring and for connection to higher-level BMS systems, which gives central visibility of operating parameters, logging of operational data and alarm history. An alternative is the IoT gateway developed together with Copeland: a Wi-Fi gateway connects to the controller inside the unit and sends data to a cloud portal. You get constant insight into temperature and device status, remote diagnostics and the data set required by HACCP systems.

Why R290 and what does it mean for operator registers and F-gas rules?

R290 is a natural refrigerant with very good thermodynamic properties, compliant with EU F-gas regulations. For defined configurations it removes the duty to register the equipment in the central operator register and to involve certified F-gas personnel, along with emission charges. Combined with EC motors and inverter compressors it also brings electricity consumption down.

What is the difference between the wall and the ceiling version?

The wall version (MBP-KOB) is suspended on the PU panel of the chamber wall – you fit it directly into the cut opening or use a transition panel. The ceiling version (MBP-KOS) is mounted in the chamber ceiling and frees up wall space for shelving, but requires clearance above the unit. Both versions share the same capacity range and the same functions: hot gas defrost, condensate evaporation by gas coil, stainless steel housing. A side air discharge system is available for the ceiling version, and a wall version with side discharge can be made to order.

How do I match a model to the volume of the cold room?

The starting point is the chamber volume and the target internal temperature: the chilled range (−5°C, 0°C, +5°C) or the freezing range (−25°C, −20°C, −15°C). Then comes the ambient temperature at the installation point, because capacity looks different at +32°C than at +43°C. The suggested volumes in the catalogue were calculated for 60 mm panels and an insulated floor – with thinner insulation, frequent door openings or warm goods loaded into the room, choose a model with a margin. The standard range is 3–65 m³ and 0.5–3.9 kW, with larger volumes and higher outputs on request.

What does implementing a monoblock for a custom project look like?

We start with a conversation and a definition of needs: temperature range, volume or capacity of the device, ambient conditions, structural constraints. Next we prepare a concept of the solution together with a cost estimate and a design. The following step is a prototype, tests and validation of parameters, and after that a pilot run confirming the repeatability of the process. Only then do we start series production. The performance of every solution is verified in the climatic chamber.
