Drain 5 1/2" KZ-Odpływ 5 1/2" – how to choose the right one
This 5 1/2 inch drain is made entirely of stainless steel and intended to be welded into the bowl. It consists of three parts: the body, the strainer and the cover.
Welding changes the character of the joint – there is no gasket to harden and no thread to work loose. In exchange, the decision has to be taken while the workstation is being made, because a later change means work for a welder.
Dividing it into body, strainer and cover allows each component to be washed separately and only the worn one replaced. The cover closes the outlet, the strainer holds back residue, the body remains a permanent part of the bowl.

Ask a questionWhy is a welded-in drain sometimes chosen instead of a screw-fitted one?
The joint that has to be sealed and checked disappears. A weld does not leak after years and there is no gap in which deposits collect.
What does the division into three parts give?
The chance to wash each component thoroughly and to replace a single part. A worn cover does not mean replacing the whole assembly.
Can such a drain be fitted in a finished sink?
Only by welding under workshop conditions. In a kitchen in use this is a troublesome solution, which is why it is usually chosen while the workstation is being built.
