In brief

  • The 176 × 108 mm footprint is the smallest module of the GN standard, and 100 mm is its deepest version in this series.
  • A capacity of 0.9 l roughly corresponds to a one-litre jar translated into the GN format.
  • An empty stainless steel container weighs very little, and a full one can be lifted with one hand.
  • The same body travels between the cold room, the kitchen and the serving point without the contents being transferred.

Gastronorm container 176x108x100 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN1910 S – how to choose the right one

The stainless steel GN 1/9 container measuring 176 × 108 mm and 100 mm deep holds 0.9 l. It works well as a circulating vessel – one body travels the route from preparation through storage to service, without the contents being poured into another vessel.

This way of working makes particular sense with small containers. Ingredients kept in quantities below a litre are the most numerous in a kitchen, and every transfer means an extra vessel to wash and another moment where something can spill or get mixed up.

In a refrigerated cabinet, a tall and narrow shape takes up less floor space than a flat tray of similar capacity. A dozen or so such containers are placed side by side on one shelf, each with a separate ingredient and a separate label.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Storing base sauces in a refrigerated cabinet
  • Mise en place at a cold station with limited counter space
  • Moving semi-finished products between the prep area and the line
  • Separating batches of product with different preparation dates

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
How many such containers fit on one GN 1/1 level?

The standard's division allows for nine: three rows of three. The actual number, however, is determined by the frame or rails in the appliance, so it is worth counting the slots on site.

Is steel suitable for acidic products, for example marinades?

Yes, with a bit of common sense – the point is to wash the container after emptying it, rather than leaving leftover marinade in it for several days.

Can such a container be washed in a hood-type dishwasher?

Yes, and for small formats this is the standard way of working. Stainless steel does not deform at washing temperature and does not pick up odours from previous contents.
