In brief

  • KZ-GN19065 has a GN 1/9 footprint, i.e. 176 × 108 mm, with a wall height of 65 mm.
  • A capacity of 0.5 l is a portion for one station and one shift, not a stock reserve.
  • Sixty-five millimetres is a depth at which a spoon reaches the bottom without submerging the hand.
  • The steel body withstands a hot load, which cannot be said of polypropylene versions.

Gastronorm container 176x108x65 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN19065 – how to choose the right one

The KZ-GN19065 Gastronorm container is stainless steel in GN 1/9 format with a footprint of 176 × 108 mm and a depth of 65 mm. It holds 0.5 l and is the smallest vessel in this series that can be placed in a bain-marie with a hot side dish.

The choice of steel at such a small capacity is dictated by temperature, not strength. Half a litre of sauce, clarified butter or roasted onion has to sit in the heat for the whole service – and that rules out materials that soften or deform under such use.

The flat proportion has another advantage here. The layer of product is shallow, so it is visible from above how much is left, and a decision to replace the insert can be made earlier than when the bottom shows up during serving.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Hot side dishes and toppings in a bain-marie on the serving line
  • Sauces heated in a water bath at the grill station
  • Brief gratinating of portions in the oven, on a carrying tray
  • Dividing a larger GN field into several small ingredients

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
When should you reach for this format instead of the 100 mm version?

When the product is thick and is scooped with a spoon or tongs. At 65 mm, access to the bottom is convenient, and half a litre is enough for a typical service cycle of a side dish anyway.

Can the container be placed directly into a bain-marie well with water?

Yes, this construction was made for that purpose – the collar rests on the edge of the opening, and the body is submerged in the bath. The water level is set so that the container does not float when the load is not full.

Will two such containers fit in the place of one GN 1/6?

Not in every appliance. The 1/9 and 1/6 footprints share a common dimension of 176 mm, but frame divisions do not always match – the layout needs to be checked for the specific bain-marie.
