In brief

  • The deepest polycarbonate GN 1/6 container: 200 mm high and 3.2 l capacity.
  • A 176 × 162 mm footprint is a sixth of a GN 1/1 surface area.
  • A height more than three times that of the 65 mm variant with the same base.
  • The transparent wall allows the contents' level to be read across the whole height.

Gastronorm container 176x162x200 mm (polycarbonate) KZ-GNT1620 – how to choose the right one

A polycarbonate GN 1/6 at a depth of 200 mm holds 3.2 l with a 176 × 162 mm footprint. A tall, narrow container with a transparent wall works like a calibrated tank: you can see not only how much is left, but also how fast the contents go down during a shift.

With this geometry, the liquid level changes noticeably even with a small loss, which makes production planning easier. In a flat container, the same loss is almost invisible.

For ongoing serving, this version is inconvenient – the ladle doesn't reach the base without submerging the hand. It works well as a reserve tank, from which contents are decanted into smaller working containers.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • A stock of sauce or dressing decanted to the station
  • Products in brine that need to stay submerged
  • A tight cold room, where capacity per shelf unit matters
  • Monitoring an ingredient's usage by the visible level

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Does the container have a scale?

The catalogue doesn't state a scale, so it's treated as a container, not a measuring vessel. Transparency does, however, allow the level to be compared with the previous day's, which in practice is enough to assess usage.

How do you scoop from a depth of twenty centimetres?

Most conveniently with a long-handled ladle, or by pouring part of the contents into a smaller container. For thick products, a spatula that reaches the base helps.

Is the container stable when standing loose on a worktop?

When full, it has a high centre of gravity and a narrow base, so it's easier to tip over than the shallow version. In a GN slot, it rests on the rim and this problem disappears.
