Gastronorm container 176x162x65 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN16065 – how to choose the right one

The KZ-GN16065 Gastronorm container is stainless steel in GN 1/6 format with a footprint of 176 × 162 mm and a depth of 65 mm, with a capacity of 1.0 l. The shallow form means the contents are fully visible from above and easy to pick up with tongs.

At a buffet this feature determines the look of the station. The product sits in a layer of a few centimetres, so the vessel looks full even when little is left in it – which cannot be said of a deep well in the same situation.

The shallow bottom also has a practical dimension when it comes to heating. Heat from the water bath reaches the whole volume faster, so a side dish placed in the warmer reaches serving temperature without a long wait.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Buffet warmers of the chafing dish type divided into sections
  • Hotel breakfasts – scrambled eggs, sausages, grilled vegetables
  • Displays of warm side dishes in a self-service counter
  • Regenerating portions in the oven before moving them to the buffet

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
How many such containers are needed for one GN 1/1 field?

Six, if the field is to be filled entirely. In practice, buffets are planned less densely – free fields are left for sections with a different size or for decoration.

Does the product not cool down too fast at 65 mm?

A shallow layer loses heat faster, which is why this format assumes heating from below for the whole duration of the display. Without a heat source it works well for cold products.

Is this size better for a buffet, or GN 1/3?

It depends on how many items need to fit. GN 1/6 makes it possible to show six different side dishes on one field, GN 1/3 gives three larger portions with fewer vessels to handle.
