A transparent GN 1/6 container measuring 176 × 162 mm and 65 mm high holds 1.0 l. A shallow polycarbonate container gives a full view of the contents: you can see both the level at the wall and what's lying on the base.
For side items displayed in a layer, this container works better than a deeper one, because the product isn't compressed by its own weight. Chopped vegetables and herbs keep their appearance longer if they sit shallow.

Polycarbonate's hardness limits surface scratches, but metal tools leave marks on the base over time. These don't affect the container's usability, though they reduce clarity.
How does this version differ from a polypropylene one of the same dimensions?
In material and transparency. The 1.0 l capacity and the 176 × 162 mm footprint are identical in both, but in polycarbonate the contents are visible through the wall, and the container is harder.
Can the container be placed directly on ice?
Yes, contact with ice doesn't harm polycarbonate. On ice displays, it's just worth providing stable support for the rim, so the container doesn't settle at an angle as the ice melts.
