In brief

  • The low wall does not hide the contents when the container sits in a counter at eye level.
  • Several such trays placed side by side divide a GN 1/1 well into clear sections.
  • Empty trays take up minimal storage space, since they nest inside one another.

Gastronorm container 265x162x20 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN1402 – how to choose the right one

A shallow stainless steel GN 1/4 container measures 265 x 162 mm, is 20 mm high, and holds 0.5 l. A container like this serves an organisational function - it divides a worktop or counter into sections and keeps order where ingredients easily mix.

At a breading station, this kind of split is practically a working requirement. Flour, egg and breadcrumbs sit in separate containers lined up in a row, and the low wall lets the product be moved between them in one motion, without lifting it high.

Outside service, the trays take up almost no space. Empty, they nest inside each other, and a dozen or more units fit within the height a single deep container occupies on its own.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • A breading station split into three containers
  • Sections for seasonings and extras at a work counter
  • Laying out portions to cool after processing
  • Splitting a GN 1/1 well into narrower zones in a display

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
How many such trays fit on one GN 1/1 well?

Four, the same as any other 1/4 format container. When working at a counter, what limits this is not the standard but the cook's reach.

Is the tray suitable for draining fatty products after frying?

Yes, smooth steel washes easily, and the low wall lets the contents be slid out without lifting the container. Drained fat collects at the bottom and pours out in one motion.

Isn't there a risk of spilling when carrying it at 20 mm?

With a liquid load, yes - this format is designed for solid products. For sauces and brines, versions from 40 mm up are chosen.
