Gastronorm container 265x162x40 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN1404 – how to choose the right one

A stainless steel GN 1/4 container measuring 265 x 162 mm and 40 mm high holds 1.0 l. The shallow shape makes it a display container - the ingredient is fully visible from above, and reaching for it needs no peering inside.

In a self-service counter, this has a direct effect on pace. The guest or the cook takes in the whole contents at a glance and does not need to stir the container to judge what is left.

A litre is a portion for one station, not for a whole day. For toppings that run down fast, a second filled container is kept in the cold store, and the whole thing is swapped out instead of topping up fresh product onto the remains of the last batch.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Inserts for toppings in a saladette and salad bar
  • Self-service counters with a cold display
  • Sandwich ingredients at a service station
  • Presenting portioned products in a refrigerated display

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Does steel or plastic work better in a refrigerated counter?

Steel picks up temperature from the cooling plate faster and does not discolour from strongly coloured ingredients. Plastic wins where transparency or low weight matters.

How many such containers fill one GN 1/1 well?

Four, in a two-by-two layout. That gives four litres of display across one socket's area, split across four different ingredients.

Can the container be washed in a dishwasher with other dishes?

Yes. The flat shape does not trap water, and steel does not warp at washing temperature or lose its looks after many cycles.
