Gastronorm container 265x162x65 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN14065 – how to choose the right one

The KZ-GN14065 Gastronorm container is stainless steel in GN 1/4 format, measuring 265 x 162 mm and 65 mm deep, with a capacity of 1.8 l. It is a universal variant - it fits most appliances without checking clearance and suits both serving and storage.

Sixty-five millimetres is a compromise value here in the good sense. The product layer holds its temperature long enough, while staying shallow enough that scooping with a spoon or tongs does not need a hand dipped in.

Just under two litres matches a typical portion served over one shift in a venue with moderate footfall. For heavier footfall, it is more convenient to keep two such containers in rotation than one deeper one.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Bain-maries and heated counters with a standard well depth
  • Sides and vegetables served throughout service
  • Steaming and regenerating portions in the oven
  • Storing semi-finished products on refrigerated cabinet runners

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Why is 65 mm considered the basic size?

Because it fits in practically every bain-marie well and every runner spacing, while giving a sensible capacity. This is the depth from which back-of-house stock is usually built up.

Can this container be used for steaming?

Yes, steel is suitable for a combi steamer. For loose or fine loads, a perforated version is worth considering if water needs to drain off during processing.

How many such containers are needed for a station with four toppings?

Four on the line and at least as many in reserve, if the work involves swapping inserts. Without a reserve, topping up comes down to pouring onto the remains.
