Gastronorm container 325x176x200 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN1320 – how to choose the right one

KZ-GN1320 is a GN 1/3 container measuring 325 × 176 mm and 200 mm deep, holding 7.7 l. Made of stainless steel, it is the deepest profile in this format, storing vertically what would take up half a shelving unit in shallower containers.

The proportions of this shape are unusual: a width of 176 mm with a depth of 200 mm means the container is taller than it is wide. Stirring only reaches the bottom with a long spoon, and when taking it out of the cold room a full container is better held with both hands by the shorter sides, since a one-handed grip on the rim easily tips the whole thing.

The weight needs to be taken into account. Seven and a half litres of stock weighs almost eight kilograms, on top of which comes the weight of the steel itself. This is already a load at which the shelf and how it is supported start to matter.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Stocks and base sauces stored in the cold room between services
  • Brines, pickling liquids and marinades in which the product must be fully submerged
  • Narrow cold-room shelves where footprint matters more than height
  • A bain-marie with a thick soup, where one insert has to last a whole service

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Why GN 1/3 rather than GN 1/2 at the same depth?

Because GN 1/3 takes up a narrower lane in the bain-marie opening and lets you fit three different items side by side instead of two. At a large depth this often matters more than capacity alone.

Can hot stock be cooled in a container like this?

It can, but a layer 200 mm high releases heat very slowly. For cooling itself it is more sensible to split the contents between two shallower containers and combine them again only once they have cooled.

How can you check whether the container will fit in your refrigerated cabinet?

What decides this is the clearance between the runners, not the height of the compartment alone. To the 200 mm of the container you also need to add clearance for lifting it straight up and out.
