Gastronorm container 325x176x40 mm (AISI-304) KZ-GN1304 – how to choose the right one

KZ-GN1304 S is a GN 1/3 container measuring 325 × 176 mm and 40 mm high, with a capacity of 1.5 l. Made of stainless steel, it matches the most commonly used depth for a work station, low enough to reach the bottom and high enough to stop the product spilling out.

The 40 mm size is a classic insert for the rail above a refrigerated prep table. The cook reaches for the ingredient with a movement from above, without moving the hand over the neighbouring container, and the layer of product is shallow, so it is easy to see when it starts running low.

At 1.5 l a full container weighs a little over one and a half kilograms, which allows it to be swapped with one hand during service. That is a rare convenience: deeper inserts almost always force you to put the knife down and use both hands.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • A topping rail above a pizza or burger prep table
  • Breading set up as three containers: flour, egg, breadcrumbs
  • Sliced cheeses, cold cuts and vegetables laid out in several layers
  • Short baking and gratinating of portions in a combi steam oven

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
When should 40 mm be chosen over 65 mm?

When the product is used up quickly and easy access matters more than reserve stock. A shallower layer means less material exposed to drying out while the insert is open.

Does this size fit a saladette?

A GN 1/3 with a depth of 40 mm is one of the most commonly used inserts in this kind of equipment, but the spacing of the rail has to be checked with the table's manufacturer, since it differs between models.

Can this container be used for serving on a bain-marie?

Yes, although a shallow insert loses temperature faster and runs out sooner. For a bain-marie with a long service, 65 or 100 mm is more often chosen.
