Gastronorm container 325x265x150 mm (AISI-304) KZ-GN1215 – how to choose the right one

KZ-GN1215 is a GN 1/2 container measuring 325 × 265 mm and 150 mm high, holding 9.5 l. It is the depth reached for when reserve stock matters more than ease of scooping, nine and a half litres in half a GN module is a lot of product in one slot.

The 150 mm size changes the way you work with the container. The contents are scooped with a ladle held vertically, and once it is down to half full the whole thing needs tilting, which is not workable with a full insert. That is why this size rarely ends up at the front of the servery and more often works as a back-of-house reservoir.

A tall wall does offer one clear benefit: a product submerged in liquid doesn't protrude above the surface and doesn't darken from contact with air. For marinating and storage in brine, this is often the deciding factor.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Marinating larger batches of meat in full immersion
  • Tanks for soups and stocks in the prep area
  • Storing products in brine without contact with air
  • Soaking and steeping pulses and dried ingredients

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Is 150 mm still a sensible depth for a bain-marie?

It's sometimes used, but at this height the bottom layer can overheat before the top layer is used up. For a long service, it's more sensible to top up a shallower insert from a spare kept alongside.

How do you safely carry a full container?

With both hands, by the longer sides, close to the body and without carrying it over other people's heads. Almost ten kilograms in an open container is a load where every jolt ends in a splash.

How many of these containers fit on a GN trolley?

The number of runner pairs is multiplied by two, since two halves fit on one level. You just need to check the runner spacing – at 150 mm, some pairs will remain unused.
