In brief

  • The shallowest GN 1/2 insert: 20 mm high and 1.2 l capacity.
  • Base 325 × 265 mm made of stainless steel.
  • A base area about twice as large as the shallow GN 1/3 insert.
  • A profile so low that the container works more like a tray than a container.

Gastronorm container 325x265x20 mm (AISI-304) KZ-GN1202 – how to choose the right one

KZ-GN1202 is a GN 1/2 container measuring 325 × 265 mm and 20 mm high, holding 1.2 l. A flat steel tray in half of a Gastronorm module – it proves useful wherever the spreading surface matters more than the volume.

With this ratio of base to wall, the product sits in a single layer over a genuinely large area. Over a dozen portions side by side, without touching and without one covering another, is an arrangement hard to achieve in any deeper container.

A low wall also has its cost: nothing stays in place here on its own. When carrying it from the worktop to the cold room, the tray has to be held level with both hands, and when transported on a trolley, it needs to be secured with a lid or film.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Cooling a thin layer of product before packaging
  • Arranging portioned items side by side in a single layer
  • Displaying snacks and side dishes in a refrigerated display case
  • Draining after rinsing, when the product can't sit in water

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Why does a shallow container cool faster than a deep one?

Because heat escapes through the surface, and a 20 mm layer has the most of it relative to its volume. It's the simplest way to shorten cooling time without additional equipment.

Is 1.2 l a lot for the GN 1/2 format?

It's the smallest volume in this outline – for comparison, the 200 mm deep insert holds 12.5 l. This size is chosen for its base, not its capacity.

Can this tray be stacked while it holds product?

Not without a lid – the containers nest one inside the other and the top one will rest on the contents of the bottom one. Stacking needs a rack with runners, or lids that transfer the weight onto the rim.
