In brief

  • GN 1/2 is a 325 × 265 mm footprint, i.e. half the surface area of a full module.
  • The 65 mm deep version holds 4.0 l.
  • A large surface area combined with a low height gives the fastest cooling in this family.
  • The material is polypropylene – light, opaque, and cheap to replace.

Gastronorm container 325x265x65 mm (polypropylene) KZ-GNP12065 – how to choose the right one

A polypropylene GN 1/2 container has a 325 × 265 mm footprint, a height of 65 mm and a capacity of 4.0 l. Its near-square, flat shape means the product sits in a thin layer – this is a container for spreading, cooling and displaying, not for building up stock.

Four litres over an area of more than eight hundred square centimetres gives a layer of about five centimetres. When cooling a cooked ingredient, this geometry works in its favour: heat escapes through the large base, not through narrow walls.

Two such containers fill a GN 1/1 level, so a counter split in half handles two menu items in large quantities – for example, two salads displayed side by side.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Spreading product out for cooling after hot processing
  • Displaying two menu items in a counter split in half
  • Storing portioned cutlets or fillets in a single layer
  • Buffets where visibility of the whole contents matters

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Why is a shallow container better suited to cooling?

Because the same quantity of product has a larger contact surface with cold air and a shorter distance from the centre to the wall. Four litres in a five-centimetre layer will cool noticeably faster than the same four litres in a tall container.

Will portions arranged in a single layer fit in one container?

With a 325 × 265 mm footprint, ten to fifteen portioned pieces fit side by side, depending on their size. Arranging them in a single layer makes sense where the portions mustn't stick together.

Which lid should be ordered for this size?

KZ-GNP12 in polypropylene, or the transparent KZ-GNT12 in polycarbonate. Both fit a 325 × 265 mm rim regardless of how deep the container underneath is.
