A polycarbonate GN 1/2 gastronorm container has a footprint of 325 × 265 mm, a height of 65 mm and a capacity of 3.7 l. A nearly square base with a low wall and a transparent body gives a vessel whose contents can be viewed from every side, not just from above.
In a counter set at the customer's eye level, the view from the side is exactly what matters. A layer of under four centimetres is then fully exposed, and staff on their side can judge the stock without leaning over the worktop.
The same feature comes in handy after service: through the wall you can see how much product is going back to the cold room, so the decision to combine leftovers from two vessels is made right there at the counter.

Ask a questionWhy is the capacity lower than in polypropylene of the same size?
Because the outer outline only tells you about the footprint and height, while volume depends on the slope of the walls and the rounding at the bottom. Hence 3.7 l in polycarbonate against 4.0 l in the polypropylene version.
Can loose product be carried in such a shallow vessel?
Yes, with a low wall, scooping works conveniently from every corner. When carrying it, it is worth making sure the product is not piled above the rim, since a shallow vessel has no spare height.
How many such containers fit on one level of a GN trolley?
Two, since a footprint of 325 × 265 mm is half of a 530 × 325 mm module. At a height of 65 mm they also take up one runner spacing, so the number of levels matches that of the trolley itself.
