Gastronorm container 530x162x100 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN2410 S – how to choose the right one

A steel GN 2/4 container measuring 530 × 162 mm and 100 mm deep holds 6.0 litres. This is a format meant for storing and carrying ready semi-finished products between the cold room, the kitchen and the service station.

In the prep room this shape works differently than in a bain-marie. On the runners of a GN rack, two narrow containers replace one large one and let two batches of product be kept apart without mixing dates, with each one coming off the shelf separately.

A hundred-millimetre layer in the cold room has another advantage: the product does not dry out from the top as fast as in a shallow well, since the surface in contact with air is relatively small for this volume.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Refrigerated cabinets and racks with GN standard runners
  • Storing semi-finished products separated by batch and date
  • Mise en place stations with several ingredients in one row
  • Carrying portions to the back of house without transferring them into another container

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Is 6.0 l the capacity right up to the edge?

That is how the nominal capacity of GN containers is stated. When carrying liquids, a margin of a centimetre or so is left so the contents do not splash when lifted.

How does this container differ from a GN 1/1 at the same depth?

In area and capacity: a 1/1 at 100 mm holds 14.0 l, more than twice as much. The height of both is the same, so they fit the same runners.

Can containers in this format be stacked one on top of another?

Empty, yes, the rim of one rests on the rim of the other. Full ones are only stacked with a lid on, otherwise the bottom of the upper container dips into the contents of the lower one.
