In brief

  • A depth of 150 mm gives a capacity of 9.0 l in the GN 2/4 format.
  • A full container is around nine kilograms of load plus the weight of the steel itself.
  • The 530 × 162 mm footprint stays narrow, so a two-handed grip falls close together.
  • The steel construction allows the contents to be blast-chilled and put away in the cold room in the same container.

Gastronorm container 530x162x150 mm (stainless steel) KZ-GN2415 S – how to choose the right one

A GN 2/4 gastronorm container made of stainless steel, measuring 530 × 162 mm and 150 mm high, holding 9.0 litres. A deep version of the narrow format, intended for storing and transporting larger batches of product.

At this capacity, weight starts to matter. Nine kilograms in a container 162 mm wide carries differently than the same weight in a wide 1/1, the centre of gravity is high and the grip is narrow, so the container is better held with both hands by the shorter sides.

In the cold room, though, this shape takes up little horizontal space. Two batches of 9.0 l stand side by side on the area of a single 1/1 field, which with a limited number of runners can be the deciding argument.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Blast-chilling larger batches of prepared product
  • Transporting soups and sauces on a service or banqueting trolley
  • Back-of-house areas with few runners, where capacity per shelf matters
  • Storing product covered with liquid, requiring full submersion

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Is it permitted to carry a container like this full?

Technically yes, but nine litres of hot contents in a narrow container carries a risk of splashing. For liquids it is safer to pour off some of it or use a trolley.

Is steel suitable for freezing?

Yes, stainless steel does not become brittle at sub-zero temperatures and conducts heat well, so the product freezes faster than in plastic. The drawback is that you cannot see the contents without removing the lid.

How much space does this container take up in an oven?

Externally 530 × 162 mm in footprint, but at a height of 150 mm you usually have to skip the neighbouring runner. In effect it takes up two levels instead of one.
