A steel gastronorm container in the GN 2/4 format, measuring 530 × 162 mm and 65 mm deep, holds 4.0 litres. A variant with a universal height, intended for circulating between the back of house and the line.
The advantage of this height in day-to-day work is the predictability of a replacement. When a container goes off to be washed, any other one of the same size and depth takes its place, and this is usually the most common size in a kitchen.
The narrow footprint also means less wasted space on a shelving rack. Four litres take up a lane just under sixteen centimetres wide, so a second container fits alongside instead of empty space.

Yes, a length of 530 mm fits into a typical 500 × 500 mm basket placed diagonally, or into an open basket. Steel does not discolour from machine detergents.
How do you choose a lid for this container?
By the GN size, i.e. 530 × 162 mm. A steel lid is rigid and suitable for transport on a trolley, a silicone one seals better for storage.
Are the containers in this series the same height at the rim?
The rim is shaped the same way throughout the 2/4 format, regardless of depth. That is why the 20, 40, 65, 100 and 150 mm containers rest on the same runners.
