Gastronorm container 530x325x200 mm (polycarbonate) KZ-GNT1120 – how to choose the right one

A polycarbonate GN 1/1 container 200 mm deep holds 24.7 l. This is the extreme item of the family: a full 530 × 325 mm module at the greatest depth, with a transparent body showing the whole height of the load.

At this volume the vessel replaces a vat, and transparency turns it into a reservoir with a visible level. For soaking, fermenting and curing large batches, the state of the whole batch can be judged from a few steps away, which with opaque plastic would require removing the lid.

The full contents weigh close to twenty-five kilograms, and a vessel like this is not carried by hand or tipped. It is filled and emptied where it stands, by scooping out the contents rather than pouring them over the edge.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Fermenting and curing a whole batch without splitting it between vessels
  • Soaking vegetables and pulses with a visible check on the water level
  • Bulk storage of ingredients in brine
  • The lower levels of cold-room racks, where the heaviest vessels stand

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Why is the capacity lower than in the polypropylene version of this size?

Because volume is determined by the shape of the interior, not just the outline: 24.7 l versus 28.0 l with identical outer dimensions. When converting recipes, the value from the specific version's data sheet is used.

How can a vessel that cannot be lifted be emptied?

The contents are scooped out with a ladle or scoop into smaller containers, and the remainder is taken out with a spatula. Only once it is empty is the vessel removed from the runners and put aside for washing.

Will a container like this fit on one level of runners?

The footprint fits every GN 1/1 module, but a height of 200 mm takes up several runner spacings at once. In practice, one vessel like this takes the neighbouring rack levels out of use.
