Gastronorm container 530x325x65 mm (AISI-304) KZ-GN11065 – how to choose the right one

KZ-GN11065 is a steel GN 1/1 Gastronorm container measuring 530 × 325 mm and 65 mm deep, holding 9.0 litres. The most typical combination of size and height in the whole Gastronorm standard.

This combination has become the standard because it hits the middle ground of all the requirements at once. Nine litres is enough for a longer stretch of serving, the ladle reaches the bottom without tilting the container, and the weight of a full container stays within the range one person can carry.

The practical consequence is that this size is bought in the greatest numbers. The containers are mutually interchangeable, so swapping a well during service doesn't require hunting for one particular piece.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Bain-maries and warmers working with a full GN 1/1 field
  • Serving main dishes with a ladle throughout the service
  • Canteens and catering kitchens with a repeating menu
  • Sets of containers exchanged between the line and the dishwashing area

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Why is a 65 mm depth considered universal?

Because it holds a portion in sauce, fits a typical bain-marie well, and lets the ladle reach the bottom without lifting the container. That's where its numerical dominance in most kitchens comes from.

Is 9.0 l enough for lunch in a canteen?

For one menu item, usually enough for several dozen portions, but the figure needs to be recalculated for your own portion weight. In high-traffic kitchens, a second container is kept ready.

Does this size also fit in the oven?

Yes, the footprint is identical to the other 1/1 containers, so the runners will accept it. When baking, it's worth remembering that at 65 mm the layer is already noticeably thicker than in the 40 mm container.
