Gastronorm container 650x530x100 mm (AISI-304) KZ-GN2110 – how to choose the right one

KZ-GN2110 is a steel Gastronorm container in the GN 2/1 format, measuring 650 × 530 mm and 100 mm deep, holding 30.0 litres. The largest footprint in the Gastronorm standard, intended for equipment adapted to this format.

Double the surface area gives more than simple multiplication would suggest. Two 1/1 containers at 100 mm together give 28.0 l, while a single 2/1 of the same height holds 30.0 l – because there are no two internal walls and two rims in the middle taking up volume.

A sensible purchase requires equipment in the same format. The bain-marie, oven or trolley must be described as 2/1, because this container simply won't fit into a 1/1 field.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Bain-maries and banquet warmers with a GN 2/1 field
  • Combi steam ovens in the double-load version
  • Serving one item to a large number of guests
  • Central kitchens cooking for several collection points

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Will a 2/1 container fit into a 1/1 unit?

No. The 650 × 530 mm footprint is larger than the 530 × 325 mm field in both dimensions, so the rim has nothing to rest on. The 2/1 format requires equipment described as 2/1.

Is it better to get one 2/1 container or two 1/1s?

One 2/1 gives greater capacity and fewer containers to wash. Two 1/1s allow two menu items to be run and swapped independently, and each one can be carried by one person.

How much does such a container weigh when full?

For a product with a density close to water, about thirty kilograms of load. That's already a weight for moving on a trolley, not for carrying across half the kitchen.
