Gastronorm container 650x530x65 mm (AISI-304) KZ-GN21065 – how to choose the right one

KZ-GN21065 is a steel GN 2/1 Gastronorm container with a 650 × 530 mm footprint and a depth of 65 mm, holding 18.5 litres. A combination of the standard serving height with the largest field in the Gastronorm standard.

This variant is bought where one menu item needs to run without interruption through the whole service. Eighteen litres in a well means staff don't swap containers midway through serving, and the ladle still reaches the bottom without tilting.

There's one price for this: a container of this size is taken off the line by two people. When a station is staffed by one person, two 1/1 containers are sometimes a more practical solution despite the smaller total capacity.

What the GN sizes mean and how to choose the depth – we explained it in the selection guide for this category.

Where it works

  • Bain-maries and serving lines with a GN 2/1 field
  • Mass catering with one item for a large number of guests
  • Banquet warmers serving a full module
  • Transporting finished production in trolleys with 2/1 spacing

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Have not found your answer? Give the GN size and the intended use – we will select the containers.

Ask a question
Why 18.5 l instead of exactly twice 9.0 l?

Because a single large container doesn't have the two internal walls and rims that take up volume in a pair of 1/1 containers. Hence the half-litre surplus.

Is swapping a container like this during service realistic?

Realistic, but it requires two people and a prepared spot to set it down. With single staffing, it's easier to work with two 1/1 containers.

Is a 65 mm depth just as universal here as in the 1/1 format?

In terms of wells, yes – it's the standard depth for serving equipment. The difference is solely in the weight of a full container, which is double at a 2/1 footprint.
