A stainless steel lid for a GN 1/1 Gastronorm container, measuring 530 × 325 mm. A rigid closure for transport, stacked storage and storing full containers of the basic format.
On a transport trolley, the lid stops being an extra and becomes a condition for transport. A 1/1 container filled halfway carries several litres or more of contents, and at every threshold on the floor this mass shifts inside the container – an uncovered 530 × 325 mm field won't hold anything back.
With full containers, the loading order also matters. Closed containers can travel stacked on top of each other only when the bottom ones aren't filled to the edge, because otherwise the base of the top one rests not on the rim, but directly on the lid pressed against the contents.

Ask a questionIs the lid enough for transporting a full container?
It reduces splashing and protects the contents, but it isn't pressed onto the rim. With a large amount of liquid, the container is filled less full or transported in a crate where tilting is out of the question.
How should closed 1/1 containers be arranged on a trolley?
Full ones low, empty ones higher, each on its own pair of rails. Stacking containers on top of each other only makes sense when the contents don't reach the edge.
Does a 1/1 lid fit in a dishwasher basket?
At 530 mm long, it's placed diagonally in a 500 × 500 mm basket or washed in an open basket. This is the same rule that applies to containers of this format.
