Silicone heating cable, round, constant wattage (without braid) – various models GK-SPCA – how to choose the right one
The GK-SPCA silicone heating cable is a round version without a braid, with an output from 10 to 60 W/m on a 230 V supply. It works at temperatures from -60°C to +200°C, and the minimum bending radius is 15 mm.
The cable is sold off a reel, so the length of the run is set by the installation, not by the catalogue. A cutting increment of 500 mm means that the metreage ordered is best rounded up to full half-metres – otherwise the remainder stays on the reel.
The braidless version is lighter and cheaper than its twin, the GK-SPCB, but the whole responsibility for protecting the cable then rests on the way it is laid. Where the cable rubs against the edge of a panel or is repositioned at every service visit, the braided version is the one to reach for.

In electrical parameters, not at all – the same 10–60 W/m output, the same voltage and the same temperature range. The difference comes down to the outer construction: the GK-SPCB has a steel braid, the GK-SPCA does not.
What length has to be ordered?
Reels come in lengths of 100, 250, 400 and 500 m, and the cable itself is divided into 500 mm increments. For a single installation a cut length is usually ordered, for production work a whole reel.
Does the cable come with the power connection already made up?
No, the termination is made on site. For this model there is a kit for terminating the cable and connecting the power supply, the GK-SPCAK.
