The double 1 1/2 inch tubular trap in white PVC collects the outflow from two bowls and leads it to a single waste connection point.
The solution makes sense with double-bowl sinks and wherever a sink and an appliance with its own drain sit next to each other in the worktop. Instead of two independent runs under the cabinet there is one, simpler to fit and to inspect.
Just bear in mind that the shared section works for two bowls. If both are emptied at the same time, draining takes longer than with separate traps.
