Lock (universal key) KP-2038 – how to choose the right one
KP-2038 is a lock for doors and drawers, supplied with a single universal key. In the range it stands alongside index KP-2038D, which is the same lock but with keys differing for each unit.
A universal key means that all the locks ordered are opened by the same pattern. Staff carry one key instead of a bunch, and a new person on shift does not have to learn which one fits which unit.
The flip side is that one lost copy opens the entire equipment fleet. The universal version therefore tends to go where the lock organises access rather than where it genuinely has to protect the contents.
