Lock (universal key) KP-G5VL – how to choose the right one

KP-G5VL is a lock for doors or drawers with a single universal key, in a zinc-plated steel housing. The version with keys differing for individual units is listed under the code KP-G5VL-D.

This item and KP-2038 solve the same task, differing in the housing description. Here only zinc plating is given, whereas the manufacturer describes the other index as zinc-plated, chrome-plated or nickel-plated.

The letter D at the end of the designation is the only thing that distinguishes the two versions of this family on paper. Since it determines the key system, there is no room for shortcuts when placing an order.

How does KP-G5VL differ from KP-2038?

Mainly in the recorded housing material: here it is zinc-plated steel alone, while the other index has three finish variants. Both come in a universal-key version and a differing-keys version.

Does the KP-G5VL key fit KP-2038?

The data sheets declare no such compatibility, and these are two separate lock families. Assuming a common key between them would be risky when planning a site.
