Lock (different keys) KP-2038D – how to choose the right one
KP-2038D is a lock for doors or drawers supplied with keys differing for individual units. The counterpart with a single universal key is index KP-2038.
A separate key for each lock puts responsibility in order. When a unit is opened only by a designated person, it is easier to establish who had access – and that is usually the real reason for choosing this version, rather than protection against theft as such.
The cost is in the handling. A bunch of keys has to be labelled, distributed among people and reconstructed after every staff change, which with a dozen or so units becomes a task in itself.
