Ball catch ZT-3 – how to choose the right one
ZT-3 is a ball catch in chrome-plated brass with two chrome-plated steel balls. Within this family it handles the same tasks as the other indexes, differing solely in construction.
The greatest advantage of the copper-zinc alloy in this application is how it behaves in damp: it leaves no rusty streaks on adjacent surfaces, which on units washed daily saves a good deal of polishing.
Metal-to-metal contact does have its consequences, however. Closing is more clearly audible than with plastic fittings, and in a quiet room that can be noticeable – if the noise is a problem, a buffer is added to the door.
