Roller catch ZT-671 – how to choose the right one
ZT-671 is a roller catch with a zinc-plated steel body in which the working elements are nylon rollers. On closing, the rollers run along the striker instead of sliding over it as a ball does in ball catches.
Changing the type of movement gives two things at once: quieter action than metal-to-metal contact and slower wear of the mating surface. Nylon is also soft, so it does not score the striker even after thousands of cycles.
Rollers also take imprecise closing better. A leaf that arrives slightly askew is guided in by the rolling element rather than stopped halfway.
