Catch ZT-136 – how to choose the right one
ZT-136 is a catch combining a zinc-plated steel body with a polyamide part. The metal carries the loads and holds the fixing, while the plastic works at the point of contact with the leaf.
The division of roles makes practical sense. Steel does not deform as the screws are tightened, and polyamide dampens the sound of closing and leaves no marks on the surface it bears against.
In service it is mainly the plastic part that wears, and that is where the age of the fitting shows. The body usually stays serviceable longer.

Is a zinc-plated body suitable for a wet back of house?
In typical damp, yes, the zinc coating protects the steel against tarnish. Under constant steam and pressure washing, stainless fittings from the same category last better.
