Weld-in flag hinge (stainless steel) ZW-01 – how to choose the right one
ZW-01 is a flagship weld-in hinge in AISI-304 stainless steel, intended for steel structures. It is the only one in this group whose data sheet includes a PDF file and a technical drawing for download.
Having the drawing changes how you work with this index. The designer can place the hinge in the model before ordering, and the welder knows where the axis sits before striking an arc – on a fitting that cannot be moved once welded, that is the most important information on the whole data sheet.
A flag geometry means that the leaf is set on the pin from above. Once the door is lifted off, the whole chamber is accessible for cleaning and the hinge itself stays on the frame – there is nothing to unscrew or lose.

Because the hinge position is set once and for all. The drawing gives the axis dimension and the height of the flag, that is, the data needed to mark out the frame before anything is welded.
Does AISI-304 weld well?
It is a grade in common use for welded structures and the manufacturer describes it as such. The quality of the joint, however, depends on the choice of filler and on surface preparation by the fabricator.
Can the position be corrected after welding?
Not without cutting the weld out. That is why, with weld-in flag hinges, it is standard to tack at a few points, check the leaf and only then weld fully.
