Weld-in flag hinge (stainless steel) ZW-02 – how to choose the right one
ZW-02 is a weld-in flag hinge made of AISI-304 stainless steel. It is a dimensional alternative to ZW-01 within the same family of fittings.
With weld-in hinges what matters is what the description does not show: there are no holes at all, so the profile loses no section and the joint needs no access from the inside. That is sometimes the only way to fit a closed frame.
Since the ZW-02 data sheet contains no drawing, it is worth requesting the dimensions before a series order. In this family only ZW-01 has technical documentation available for download.

The descriptions give the same steel grade and the same method of fixing, so the difference lies in the dimensions. Without a drawing for ZW-02 the fit has to be confirmed with the manufacturer.
Does welding change the properties of the steel around the weld?
The heat-affected zone always behaves differently from the parent material. That is why, after welding stainless steel, cleaning and passivating the joint is standard workshop practice.
