Thermoformed part (to dimensions) KP-JDA – how to choose the right one
KP-JDA isn't a catalogue item with fixed dimensions, but a part thermoformed to the customer's drawing – up to 2 m long, in the plastic specified in the documentation. It most often serves as the inner liner of an insulated body, i.e. the tray the evaporator sits in, which has to be matched to the specific shape of the unit rather than to an available off-the-shelf size.
The advantage of a moulded part over a welded or bolted construction is practical. A monolithic piece has no seams that start leaking over time; the mould can directly form recesses for the evaporator, pipes, funnels and drains, and falls directing water to a single point. Thermal bridges at the joints also disappear. A quote requires a drawing or 3D model, the material specification and the expected batch size.

Ask a questionWhat should be sent to get a quote for a made-to-measure part?
A 2D drawing or 3D model with dimensions and tolerances, the material or the requirements it needs to meet (working temperature, food contact, rigidity), the layout of holes and drains, and the expected batch size. Without this last piece of information, the quote is incomplete: tooling costs are spread across the units produced, so the unit price at 50 pieces and at 5,000 pieces are two different numbers.
What are the limitations on shape and dimensions?
Length up to 2 m. Beyond that, the limitations of the technology itself apply: thermoforming requires draft angles on the walls so the moulded part releases from the mould, it can't reproduce sharp internal corners, and the forming depth depends on the sheet's thickness and type. We confirm the specific limits for a given shape after analysing the drawing, before the mould is made.
