Waste opening guard – various models KP-DG-2 (black) and KP-DS-2 (red) – how to choose the right one
KP-DG-2 and KP-DS-2 are scrap hole covers available in two versions: black rubber and red silicone. Both close the same opening but behave differently under the effect of temperature and cleaning chemicals.
Rubber is cheaper and works well for typical hand washing. Silicone performs better where the part regularly encounters higher temperatures or comes into contact with grease – it keeps its elasticity for longer, so it does not start falling out of its seat.
The red colour of the second version makes practical sense in a kitchen. A part that catches the eye is harder to throw out together with scraps, and when the station is started up in the morning it is immediately clear whether it is in place.

Does the red colour serve any function here?
In this item, red is simply the colour of the silicone version. It does, however, make the part easier to find on the worktop, which matters for a part that tends to get lost during cleaning.
