Condensation drain methods
We can distinguish between different condensate drainage systems in refrigeration equipment:
Condensate drain outside the unit
We can drain the condensate outside our device. Using an installation of complex funnels, tubes, siphons, drain and condensate pump allows us to drain the condensate into the sewage system (e.g. city sewerage, using sewage pipe). This is a more complicated solution. The constructed condensate drain system is more static and gives less maneuverability of the device. Note that in this case the condensate drainage line is outside the device. This method must have access to the sewer system and sewer pipe.
The system of connecting the condensate drain to the sewerage system requires a thoughtful plan for the location of equipment in the sales space and the installation that allows the condensate to drain into a central drainage system.
Condensate drain to the tank
The condensate, through the use of funnels, drains, fittings and tubes, collects in a tank inside the refrigeration unit. This solution may not be the best for equipment operating in difficult conditions and producing a large amount of condensate. Service personnel must remember to empty the tank regularly. Otherwise the condensate may overflow leading to flooding of the floor and damage to the equipment.
Condensate drain into a container and evaporation using a PTC heater
Condensate that forms is discharged through the system into condensate evaporation container. It includes a heating element – PTC heater, which is responsible for evaporating the condensate. Getting rid of condensate in this way is an effective method for continuous evaporation of condensate. Method works without absorbing the time of service personnel. In this solution, there may be problems with the effectiveness of operation on humid and hot days. When the refrigeration unit will work under a heavy load producing significant amounts of condensate, and our heater won’t have enough power or the container too small in capacity.
Therefore, it’s important to select a heating element with adequate power and water evaporation capacity. The system will keep up with the evaporation of condensate, which at the same time will prevent its overflow and the development of moisture.
Why draining condensate is important?
Condensate drainage system is extremely important for the proper operation of the equipment. Undrained and accumulated condensate can lead to unpleasant odor, shorten the life of the device, and even cause flooding of the room.
Controlling the amount of condensate and its proper drainage also translates into a higher level of cleanliness. The device itself can operate uninterrupted and perform its tasks efficiently cooling the products inside.
Properly selected condensate drain system supports the proper operation of the refrigeration unit. This also facilitates the tasks of service personnel.
Regular maintenance
Also, do not forget to regularly maintain the elements responsible for the drain of condensate. They collect a lot of dust, particles and various impurities. That can contribute to blocking the flow of condensate in the system.
Basic mistakes such as lack of regular maintenance, too close and poor positioning of equipment, and improper installation of condensate drainage can cause breakdowns, less efficient operation of equipment, and this can translate into broken goods and financial losses.
Drainage of condensate from air conditioning
Also in air-conditioning systems we need to remember about condensate drainage. Similar solutions are used there. Such as draining the condensate to a central sewer or outside the building. Condensate pumps and gravity drainage of condensate to a container are also used. Gravity installation is based on the principle of laying the system at an angle of several degrees. This allows water to drain easily. Similar solutions are used in the refrigeration industry.
Components for condensate drain systems
We offer a variety of components for building a condensate drain system such as:
- drains, siphons, half-siphons, funnels, stoppers,
