A spout, a timer and a mixing valve are the components that wear out faster than the body of the tap. Replacing the component alone brings the station back into service for a fraction of the price of a new tap, provided that it fits the connection and the thread. How to choose
The component is chosen for the connection and for how it is operated
The most common reason to buy in this category is replacing a worn part, not building a new station. Then only one thing counts: that the new part goes in where the old one was. We give the connection in inches – from 1/4 to 3/4 – and it has to match the installation, because an adapter in a place exposed to vibration and daily washing is a classic source of later leaks.
The second thing is how it is operated. A valve with a knob is opened by hand; a knee switch or a pedal frees the hands and limits contact with the tapware – that matters at stations where staff work in gloves or handle raw product. Timers shut the water off after a set time, so they save it wherever a tap tends to be left running.
The third group is the wear parts: spray heads, reinforced hoses, tubes and connectors. These are replaced on a cycle and are worth keeping in reserve, because a failed spray head stops the dishwashing station, not the whole kitchen – provided there is something to replace it with.
