PVC profiles separating the cold and warm sides of the cabinet

Every metal connection between the inner and the outer skin is a thermal bridge: it conducts cold outwards, the casing sweats and the compressor runs more often. A thermal profile separates the two sides of the structure and at the same time guides the foam during insulation, so a body made of 0.5–0.7 mm sheet keeps its stiffness. Body profiles are chosen for the insulation thickness, PU-D door profiles for the thickness of the leaf and the type of gasket; for every item we give the material, the RAL colour and the commercial length.

How to choose

A thermal profile cuts the path of cold from the chamber to the casing

A thermal bridge forms wherever a metal part crosses from the cold side to the warm one. Cold travels along it to the outside and water condenses on the casing – in a place nobody planned to clean. A PVC profile placed in that path breaks the conduction, because plastic conducts heat several hundred times worse than steel.

Body profiles work in the structure of the cabinet, door skin profiles in the leaf. These are two different geometries and they do not replace each other: the first holds the skin and the insulation, the second closes the edge of the door together with the gasket.

When ordering, the length of the section and the colour are what count. We extrude the profiles in fixed lengths, so for a production run it is worth calculating the cutting plan – and choosing the colour to match the skin, because the profile stays visible on the edge.
