How to choose
The drain is chosen for the hole and the thread, the honeycomb for the air speed
Three dimensions matter with drains: the diameter of the hole in the tub, the thread of the connection and the height available underneath. An angled drain saves height where there is no room under the cabinet for a straight outlet, and a partial trap holds back smells from the installation instead of letting them into the display case.
A trap is the part you only remember once the drain starts to smell. If the installation has none further along, it has to sit at the appliance – otherwise warm air from the sewer goes straight into the chamber.
The honeycomb does something entirely different: it straightens the air stream from the curtain so that it does not mix with the surroundings. Its thickness and sheet dimensions are given, and it is cut to the width of the cabinet when ordered. The longer the cells, the more ordered the stream – and the less cold escapes from an open display case.
Pressure relief valves equalise the pressure after the chamber door is closed. Without them the vacuum can hold the door shut so firmly that it cannot be opened for several minutes.
