How to choose

The slide is chosen for the weight of the leaf and for the way it is hung

Sliding doors win where there is no room in front of the appliance to swing a leaf open – in a narrow shop aisle or between shelving runs. The price of that convenience is paid in maintenance: the slide collects dust and crumbs, and once dirty it starts to resist and the doors stop closing on their own.

The set is chosen for the weight of the leaf together with the glass and the gasket. An overloaded roller does not break straight away – first play appears, then the leaf starts to rub, and finally it stops sealing along its whole height and the appliance loses cold.

Ball-bearing and telescopic slides are a different family: they work in drawers and pull-out elements, not in doors. What counts there is the extension – full gives access to the whole depth, partial leaves the back of the drawer out of reach.
